Twitter

I have no idea why...

but tonight I signed up for a twitter account.

Do you twitter?

I'm trying to see what the usefulness would be for me.
(I'll be sure to share if I figure it out!)
I just know that I keep hearing all the "buzz" about twitter and how it's the next great thing. So, I thought...hey, why not?

So...If you do twitter....and you want to follow my "tweets" go look for me on twitter!

And on a completely unrelated side note,

(just because my friend Becca posted it on facebook, and it reminded me of how much it makes me giggle),

I just wanted to share this music video.

Quite possibly the worst music video ever.

A weird mix of Grease, Star Wars, and ABBA.
(and yet, sadly, some of it reminds me of those cheer routines we did in the 80's!)

And the even funnier thing? There are tons of "re-makes" of it out on the Youtube.

Deep Thoughts and Seven Years

So...maybe it's the nyquil...maybe not,
but, as I've been lying around the last few days letting my sinuses drain,
I've also been reading a blog or two.

Today, I read this article on Segullah.

It really caused me to stop and think.

First of all - Seven years to the day?
That is breathtakingly scary.

I don't want to think of myself as taking the counsel of the Prophet casually.
I want to find joy in my journey.

Oh..
I can't wait for April Conference!

ugh. I've caught a cold...

Hopefully, I'll be off the Nyquil and back to the land of the living soon...

Google Reader

Just out of curiosity...

Do you read your blogs through Google Reader? Or maybe a different "subscription" service?

Once upon a time, I had all my favorite blogs bookmarked as "favorites". Or, listed on my "blog roll".

Then my genius brother Alan introduced me to Google "reader". I've been hooked ever since.

Only today, I decided that I think I have an addiction.

I went and counted. I have 142 blogs that I am subscribing to!
I went through and deleted the ones I thought I could "live without".

Now I'm down to 130.

That's better......right?

Cake Bites

So, last week, we decided to attempt to re-create something we had purchased at the "Sweet Tooth Fairy" in Provo - Cake Bites.

I thought that these "cake balls" from the Bakerella's website seemed close.

So, we decided to make them.

Only we wanted chocolate, not red velvet, as the base flavor. Other than that one switch out, we followed her directions as best we could.

I know they aren't quite as perfect as the Bakerella...but this WAS our first shot. Next time we will attempt to make them EVEN MORE CHOCOLATEY (if that is a word?) by using chocolate ganache instead of cream cheese frosting. I think this might make them deadly.

They really were super easy, and yummy.

We took them to a birthday party for our friend, Lorien, and everyone liked them.
(At least, they SAID they liked them!)

While we had the chocolate all melted and ready, I wanted to also try and make some of these. I saw these last year over at Sugardoodle and have wanted to make them myself for a year or so...

They seemed so simple.

Not so. The directions do not really go into detail about how exactly you are supposed to insert that sucker stick into the oreo without breaking the cookie. I couldn't get it to work. These are my failed attempts. They were just sad. Oh well, maybe next time?

I knew I was in trouble

Yes.

I knew I was in trouble when I wrote this post about Facebook.

I just didn't think anything would happen THIS SOON.
Sure enough, just this week, I was told I had to join facebook.

And, if you read that post, you know how I feel about facebook....

But IIDA (the International Interior Design Association) has created group pages on facebook for the different chapters. And since I am President-Elect for my chapter....I really didn't have much choice.

I waffled for several days...and today I gave in.

I've gone over to the darkside people. Feel free to "friend" me.

The Flip Mino Camera

Call me crazy,

but I really want one of these! They look so cool! Plus, you can totally customize it, with any photo or graphic design you want.

I just think it is a really cool piece of technology that seems relatively affordable at $179.

However, apparently my practical side is taking over on this one, since I bought new TIRES this week for my car (they were expensive...and an unexpected, unplanned expense - ouch!)

Oh well...I guess you won't be seeing many digital videos posted here any time soon!

kerrigan's quilt

I've started sewing again...and although this photo looks like I'm sewing in the dark...really, I'm not!

Here are some of the fabrics I cut out the other day...

They are starting to come together as the beginnings of a birthday gift for Kerrigan!
(My adorable, soon to be an eight-year-old, niece)

What do you think?

The Sweet Tooth Fairy

We stopped by this CUTE bake shop the other day after a "birthday lunch".
(it was Katie's birthday.)

I picked the Strawberry Shortcake cupcake. SO Yummy! The frosting had fresh strawberry puree mixed in.

If you're ever wandering through south Provo...you should stop by!

My First "Big" Quilt..

Up until this, the only thing I had made were baby quilts.

Quick. Easy. Baby Quilts.

Last fall I got this great idea to make a quilt for a Christmas gift. Here it is all completed.
I think it turned out GREAT.

(My Mom loved it too!)

Facebook

Do you Facebook?

Listen. I'm not on facebook.

I have issues.

The thought of people looking me up and following my every move kind-of creeps me out.

I'm afraid I would turn out to be one of those snobby people who ignores "friend requests". I don't like the idea of lurking in peoples lives via their facebook "wall".

(and yes, I KNOW...I blog. But it is different. I can't explain why. It just IS)

I may get over it someday though...especially if facebook is really something like this.

Technology Frustration

Every once and a while technology has the ability to completely frustrate me. Tonight was one of those times. I had two things that I really needed done on the computer upstairs. I had a sketch I needed to have scanned (a logo I am working on for our Stake YW leaders for Girl's Camp T-shirts) and I really wanted to synch my ipod. (not absolutely NECESSARY, I know, but I really wanted some updated podcasts to listen to.) I normally would have asked Nancy to take care of those two items for me, as I haven't walked upstairs since December 11th. But, I knew she was busy and I knew she wouldn't have time to do it tonight. I thought, why not? Everyone else is gone to Young Women's. I'll take my time and hobble up the stairs. I've got nothing better to do.

It should have been a 30 minute task. Tops. Including boot up time and everything.

Once on the computer I thought I'd be extra high-tech and cool and upgrade my TIVO software so I could upload an episode of "Pushing Daisies" that I had missed to my Ipod, so I could watch it later when I had time. This was my big mistake.

Two hours later I'm frustrated, tired and just plain mad. It won't work. (I could go into detail, but really? You don't want to hear it all) I called TIVO customer support. They couldn't figure it out either. Just wait 24 hours and try it again...this was their suggestion. I couldn't bring myself to explain to the support tech the complications of me hobbling upstairs 24 hours later.

And when I started to feel tears forming over my frustration? I knew it was time to quit. Hang up now before that TIVO tech thinks I am insane. Crying over a lack of TIVO kismet.

Is it that I am super tired? Maybe hormonal? who knows. But for right now? Ughhh. I hate technology!
