Genius!

Yikes!

It's been a whole week since I last blogged....
sorry, I've been kind-of busy and
otherwise preoccupied.

Anyhow, I just saw this video
that a friend shared on her blog
and I have just one word:

Genius!

Let me know what you think...
(oh, and Madi?
I'm SO wondering if you are an extra in this!)

Jazz Game

Last night I had the opportunity to go to a Jazz game
so fun!

Our seats were pretty good
(decent, anyway)
not super important people courtside seats,
but not way up in the upper atmosphere either.

One of my friends who came along,
is a super Jazz fan.

She brought us all these blinking colored glasses,
and made us wear them.
(they were fun)

They had a button on the side that changed the blinking pattern...
they could just blink disco crazy, or
race from side to side,
or all kinds of crazy combinations.

We had fun with them...
and lots of people making comments about them!

All in all,
a super fun time.
(even though the Jazz lost in the end...at least the game was close!)

Evidence that I am Old?

On Monday, I was talking to a friend,
and mentioned that I had seen this performance
on the Grammy Awards Sunday night...

I didn't watch all the Grammy's,
in fact, during this performance I was on the phone,
and my TV was on mute,
but it looked so crazy,
that I went back later and re-wound the performance
just so I could watch it,
because I was thinking,

huh?

My friend said that this is clear evidence that I am old.
(that I do not "get" things like this.)

But seriously?
why is he dressed like a muppet?
What is with the head bling he is wearing?
and really, Gweneth?
I'm pretty sure she ruined the lid on that piano,
dancing around in heels like that?
she had to be leaving divots everywhere...
which seems like a shame on such an expensive instrument.
not to mention?
socks?

anyhow.

that's my 2 cents.

False Spring

The weather has been SO nice the last few days...

up to 60 degrees,
which for Utah?
In February?

super nice.

I've been trying to tell myself that it is only a
"false spring",
don't get too excited....

but then yesterday,
I noticed buds in the flowering pear trees
on the walk to my car...

blossoms are coming!!
maybe it's not false spring afterall?

(although the forecast is calling for snow tomorrow, so we shall see...)

Yummy Valentines Treats

Favorite Valentine treat ever.
Period.

These are the best....
tiny sour hearts.

They are made by Jelly Belly and they are so good.
kind-of like tiny cherry jello hearts.

and lastly?
the search for the most perfect sugar cookie ever has ended.
this.is.it.

Molly's in Provo.
Seasonal item only as far as I know.
best sugar cookie I have EVER had.

absolute YUM.

Phosphate Free dish detergent

Have you noticed your dishes are dirtier?

blech!

Ever since July
(when phosphates were banned in 17 states)
I have struggled with my dishes.

They always have a film on them,
particularly my kitchen utensils
(which happen to be black plastic)

It's been driving me crazy!

I even called my brother back in November,
when I knew he was coming to visit
to find out if his state had banned phosphates too...
I was going to have him smuggle me some
detergent WITH phosphates.

(and yes, I know they are bad for the fish...
and yes, I care about the environment...
but we are talking about my dishes, and well,
I just couldn't take the filmy dishes any more-
I was feeling desperate.)

alas...Arizona has banned them too.

So I have been sad,
every time I unload the dishwasher,

attempting things like vinegar,
or baking soda,
with not much success.

I've even debated purchasing
some trisodium phosphate,
which I hear you can get at Home Depot...
until...

Last week,
one of my favorite local shows
Studio5
introduced me to a solution:
I picked some up at my local Target on Saturday....
and,
voila!
problem solved.

I don't know what is in this magic concoction
all I know is,
IT.IS.GENIUS.

My dishes are clean once again,
and I could not be happier.

I only wish I could purchase it in large quantities at Costco.

"101 Things for the Housewife to Do"

Today,
I was walking through the library,
and a shelf of books caught my eye...

First of all,
seriously,
how hilarious are those book titles?

"Housewifery" (is that really a word?)
"Survival for Busy Women"
"The Easy Housekeeping Book", etc.

So, I had to stop and browse.
The book I chose was,
"101 Things for the House Wife to Do"

Cause really?
I can't imagine you need a book,
or even a list,
to figure out what you need to do.
Not that I am a housewife,
but my personal list,
when it comes to taking care of MY house?
never ending.

But anyway,
I found the "decorating" section
to be really fun.

Check it out:

Quote: "Some people are able to live with violent contrasts"
(referring to color, of course)
and seriously....I love those color schemes...

and this next page?
Quote: "Three typical examples of modern furniture are shown on the next page"
is it just me,
or does that furniture remind you of a dollhouse?

at any rate?
I was really entertained.
They were very fun!

I love that they still have books like this in the library.
I bet they could sell them on ebay for a fortune.
Because that is some awesome vintage stuff.

The Fourth Watch

Mmmmmmm....
What could be better than french toast
from Kneaders on a Saturday morning,
I ask you?

I had a fun breakfast "date"
last Saturday,
with a group of amazing women that I know.

It was SO fun to see them,
(It's been a while)
and so great to catch up.

I always walk away from visiting with these women
enriched and lifted up.

we ended up,
as per usual,
in a bit of a serious discussion
about life, (our lives)
and the challenges that we all face.

Anyway, my good friend ended up sharing with us all
a talk
(that had been shared with her by another of our friends)
from a devotional speech given at
BYU-Hawaii.

SO. GOOD.

Rather than me try to articulate the gist of it
(which, I don't think I could even come close to)
I am just going to share a link to it.

If you have a minute,
go here
and read it.

It will be worth your time.

I Promise.

P.S. I am SO a "first watch" kind of a girl....
I think I need to work on that.
(well, okay, maybe "second watch")

My Crazy Life

Work has been super busy lately,
I mean,
seriously...

Look at my desk.
Granted, my desk is often "messy",
I'm a "piler"
not a "filer"
meaning, I work best with piles,
not with work in files.
but still...
it's getting ridiculous.

I'm hoping for a reprieve sometime soon.
